Which kind of media institution may distribute your media product and why?

Where to sell it ?

Institutions
To identify a media institution that would be likely to distribute my product, I first identified a product which was similar to mine, in the form of Kerrang magazine.

As kerrang! magazine is of a similar style and genre to my magazine, I feel those who distribute this magazine would be likely to distribute my own music magazine. Therefore the distribution company I have chosen is Bauer, as they would know exactly where and how would be best to distribute my magazine, in order to gain a high popularity readership and sales revenue.

Bauer Media Group is a multinational media company headquartered in Hamburg, Germany which operates in 16 countries worldwide. Since the company was founded in 1875, it has been privately owned and under management by the Bauer family. Worldwide circulation of Bauer Media Group's magazine titles amounts to 38 million magazines a week.

As well as producing kerrang they also produce empire, mojo and Q magazine these all are very well known and well established magazines. By using Bauer I could get my magazine to be as successful as these. Mojo, Q and kerrang are all similar genres to my magazine 'clash', therefore they know what the target audience is and how to create profits from this type of magazine.

I could not use Emap magazines to sell my magazine because Smash Hits is Emap’s music magazine. It is primarily focused on pop music, and aimed at children and younger teenagers as its content is a mixture of very young pop musical groups, personas as well as content which isn’t of a mature nature. This institutions audience is the opposite of mine therefore it would not work to sell using them.
